The Rise of AI Art
Share
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is taking over the world. Want to write a blog, create a story or even do digital art? AI can assist you one way or another. The rise of AI is undeniable but along with its rising fame, doubts also rise. Is AI a friend that enhances human creativity, or is it a foe that threatens the essence of art?
AI as Your Best Friend
As a seasonal artist, I believe you have encountered a time in your life when you feel down and uninspired. No matter how hard you try, no idea is coming out of your brain. During these times, you can depend on AI as your best friend. It can provide you with numerous ideas and concepts as your building block.
For beginner artists, the world of art can be overwhelming. You may be stuck between two questions: which medium to use and what art style to follow. This is where AI can guide you. If you have an idea on your mind that you cannot express, create a prompt then hit enter.
AI as Your Worst Enemy
If there is one major thing that AI can take away from us, that is our jobs. There is a high potential for AI to replace human artists in the commercial and creative spaces. Companies might think that AI is a cost-effective and time-efficient solution in creating visual contents whether be it in the field of advertisements or design.
AI can also learn things exponentially faster than a normal human which means they can adapt to changes faster than we do. In this society, change is the only thing constant and as what they say, the trend is your friend.
In Heart, There is Art
If something is too good to be true, maybe it is. With benefits comes the risks and ignoring these will be shortsighted. Yes AI can create images within seconds but I personally think it lacks the soul and intent only humans can provide. Art is not just pixels and patterns. It is about emotions, storytelling, real connections and making a revolution and does not follow any trend. No matter how advance technology progresses, it can never replicate the depth of human feelings. The power of art lies within our senses. Have you listened to your favorite song and remembered your childhood crush? Have you tasted a chocolate chip cookie and remembered your mother's recipe? Have you watched a movie and was able to relate to the main protagonist? Have you seen a painting of your province and missed the laidback moments of your childhood days? These emotions will never be recreated by any prompt AI follows.
No matter how fast a computer generates complex images, it will never replace the dedication and hard work of an oil painter who finished a painting after six months. Hitting the press button to generate four images is nothing compared to a thousand brushstrokes of a watercolor artist. The vivid colors of an AI image is dulled compared to the stories behind a mural.
